Scoobies For Boobies!

Cancer is bad. Breast cancer is the worst. Since it's October I want everyone to take a minute and see what they can do to help win the fight against breast cancer. Here are two very good organizations that should appeal to everyone!

Scoobies For Boobies
"Scoobies for Boobies was created in 2008 by a group of like minded - Subaru loving women to promote awareness in the community and to raise money to fund research for a cure. Money raised is donated to the American Cancer Society's (ACS) "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

So whether you love Subarus, own a Subaru or simply want to buy an awesome wrist band make sure you check you their website!

Shirts For A Cure

"The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE) was established by punk-rock photographer Mark Beemer in 2002. SSE provides financial assistance to underprivileged women who cannot afford expensive breast cancer medicine and therapy. The Shirts For A Cure Project (SFAC) was launched by SSE to give voice to the social concerns of punk bands and their many fans as well as to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention.
When a band donates a shirt design to SFAC, the design becomes exclusive to SSE. We sell the shirt and use the proceeds to help women fighting breast cancer. If you would like to support our cause please take a moment to peruse the more then 150 shirts we offer. All shirts are printed on 100% pre-shrunk cotton unless otherwise stated. For a donation of $12 (plus shipping and handling) you will be helping someone who is in need as well as receiving an exclusive shirt from your favorite band."

If cars aren't your thing then band tees have to be! Make sure you check them out and find your favorite bands exclusive shirt!

Neon Trees - Good Stuff

Neon Trees is a rock band from Provo, Utah. Formed initially by neighbors Tyler Glenn and Chris Allen, the band made its first home in Provo, eventually adding Branden Campbell and Elaine Bradley to the lineup. Although a well known band in Provo, the band didn't receive nationwide exposure until late 2008 when they were chosen as openers for several of The Killers North American tour dates. Not long after, the band was signed by major record label Mercury Records and released their first full length album,Habits, in 2010. Their first single "Animal" has climbed to #1 on the Alternative Rock Chart.

The band first started playing under the name Neon Trees in late 2005 with five original members. The band's name originates from the lighted trees outside of a restaurant, seen in California. The band became well-known throughout Provo and Salt Lake. They released an EP called Becoming Different People in 2006 during the time of their first tour through California. The EP featured promising songs like "Snap the Flash", "Sister Stereo", "Modern Romantics".

The band released its debut album at Mercury/Def Jam, Habits, on March 16, 2010."Animal" was chosen as the lead single and was featured as the Free Single of the Week on iTunes in March 2010. They performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live on March 23, 2010 and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on May 14, 2010. The song has also been featured on a commercial for Las Vegas.

Halloween!

With Halloween and Halloween parties on rapid approach it's time to start thinking about costumes. There are some key points to remember when it comes to picking out your costume so that you can have a truely unique and good time(add alcohol).

  • What is everyone else going to be wearing? You don't want to show up to a party or a gathering and be the 15th Freddy Krueger. No one will remember you and it'll be slightly awkward.
  • Are you going for laughs? If so try to really stand out, don't go as an indian with a arrow in his head but something that people will relate to and enjoy (Chris Brown and Rhiana?)
  • Or simply be that one guy who doesn't dress up. It's up to you. But, C'mon.

Post your ideas or what you're going to be! Also, help me choose between Doug Funny and Dr.Horrible.

Android App Of The Week: Shazam

The application I'm reviewing this week is available on both the Android market and the I-Phone market. Shazam is a simple to use app that listens to any song that is playing via radio, computer, other phone etc and gives you the name of the song, the artist, album, release date and a bunch of other goodies.

My personal experience with Shazam have been nothing short of awesome. It has never not been able to ID the song that I was listening to and it does it in such a quick time(depending on my current network). There has only been one issue with Shazam and that is you can only 'tag' or ID 5 songs a month for free. If you want to do more than that then you have to buy it for 5$.

Try it for free and post back your feelings/results.

Best Flash Game Ever?

Now that I finally have internet back(Feels like forever xD) I'm going to bring this amazing flash game to you! It's one of the most addicting games I've played and you're going to love it. You better love it. Are you ready?
          Here it is! http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/g3/bells.htm

                                                           Winterbells!

You are a little bunny that has to hit winterbells in order to keep gaining height and getting more points. Every bell you hit gives you more points! The flying doves DOUBLE your score, however, sometimes going for them is too risky later in the game!
It's pretty easy to get a hang of after a little bit depending on your mouse sensitivity and whether or not you're using a commodore 64. The only downside to this game is most definetly the music. It will drive you insane after about 1 minute of listening to it.
Try to avoid crying, raging and swearing when you're really high and you miss that one bell. It will make you sad. :( Here is my best score so far. Make sure to post your thoughts and/or score in the comments here! Thanks!

Ignore the poor resolution and WoW(quit long ago) that was my old computer.

Hughesnet Gripe

No post until after work today due to hughesnet being the worst form of internet known to man. They limit and choke your bandwidth then freeze your internet for 24 hours(unless of course you want to pay 8$ to reset it). Anyhow ill come home get up the post I wanted to and check out all the wonderful blogs Im missing right now. My apologies!

Micro-Update

I'm currently training some kid at work (is 27 a kid?) anyhow so he got sent home because his smelly aura was too bad. I mean literally you could smell him 7 feet away! I counted the tiles! I'm pretty sure he knows it's mine and a few other people who complained simply because there's only 4 of us in that corner of the factory. C'mon though he's worn the same thing for close to 2 1/2 weeks straight and probably never showered.

Has this happened to anyone else? Leave a comment if so!

Monday's Easy Listening

I've just recently started to follow the group Passion Pit. They formed out of Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2007. Mostly falling into the 'Alternative' category of music they play a variety of electronic/pop music. The group started off as a solo act by Angelakos, but after a performance he was approached by Ian Hultquist to put together a group with his current material.

Their first debut album was released in September of 2008 under the name of 'Chunk of Change'. It's release was slow at first but started to gain steam as a few commercials started using 'Sleepyhead' in them. The second album they released was 'Manners' in may of 2009. This album saw far more success than their first and is still growing.

Anyhow, here's a sample. Hope you enjoy it!

Spooky World

Last night a few friends and I decided to venture to Litchfield, NH and visit Spooky World! Having never been there we were armed with just the information from their website (http://spookyworld.com/). After a little detour on the way there - Stupid phone GPS- we finally arrived. The parking was surprisingly abundant and fairly priced at $10.

Having bought our tickets online we walked in only to find out that you have to stand in the same line as those who did not purchase their tickets yet to trade them in :(. 45 minutes later we get our real tickets and head off into the darkness. We come up to the first 'haunted house' and decide to get in line. A hour and a few ghostly figures later we it was our turn to enter. It was pretty well put together and amusing for being inside a giant circus tent. After a quick 5 minute jaunt through the house it was all over and I felt a sense of sadness as I wanted more.

The spooks and clowns walking the grounds offered great entertainment as you wandered around or waited in line. Ranging from dead clowns to giant aliens to crying girls with teddy bears there was no shortage of amusement. The wait time for the houses wasn't that bad, however, with the temperature at a brisk 48° it got cold really fast.

It made a good night filled with laughs, jumps and fried food. So if you're in the 603 area or surrounding tri-state area definetly check out Spooky World before it leaves!

Sleepy Saturday Movie Review: Dan In Real Life

On this lazy Saturday I decided to watch Dan In Real Life that just arrived through Netflix. I went into this film without much prior knowledge as to what it's about, however, starring Steve Carrell and Dane Cook I assumed it would be hilarious. Boy, was I wrong.

So the movie as about Dan, played by Steve Carrell, whose wife passed away a few years ago. During a family retreat he falls in love with this lady he meets at a bookstore. It turns out that she is dating his brother Mitch, played by Dane Cook, and it all goes downhill from there.

There are a few smirk moments in this movie, however, it's mostly filled with super awkward situations and sad moments. I'm glad I got it through Netflix instead of spending 4-5$ on this at the nearest Video Store. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're trying to show you have a soft caring side for one of your dates.

          Overall I give it a 4/10.

I-Phone App of the Week!

Hello! This week I'd like to bring attention to one of the best I-Phone applications that I've used to date, Angry Birds. It's currently available on the Market for $4.99.

In this silly game you play as a variety of birds and launch yourself via sling-shot into barricades to crush the green pigs that stole their eggs. The levels get progressively more difficult and looney as the levels go on. The birds you gain add different abilities depending on their colors. It's very fun and recommended for people of all ages! So if you're looking for a time waster between meetings or classes be sure to check out Angry Birds!
